Fascism?

"The corporation is established to develop the wealth, political power and welfare of the Italian nation. Corporativism means a disciplined and therefore controlled, economy, since there can be no discipline which is not controlled. Corporativism overcomes socialism as well as it does liberalism: it creates a new synthesis." Mussolini
The Philosophical Roots of Modern Ideology, David E. Ingersoll, 3rd edition, Prentic Hall, (pg 222)
While the US did not--in the beginning--intend for this type of economic system to be established, it has emerged nonetheless, and this new proposed legislation(tort reform)--that helps corporations escape obligation to provide reparations to those they have wronged--is a perfect example--in the long list of examples--of a "controlled economy".
There is simply too much of a connection between government and corporations these days. Politicians cannot progress in the political machinery unless they acquiesce to the wants of corporate America. The Government is controlling the rules of the market--making possible higher corporate earnings--while consequentially hurting the individual.
Meanwhile our fascistic nation state is measured not only by its military capability--as in Italy or Germany prior to and during WWII--but by its GDP, by the percentage growth of the entire economy. We Document progress by measures which relate only to the "nation", thus supplanting the "individual" of classical liberalism, with the "new synthesis" described by Mussolini.
What is reported on the news to help us believe the "nation" is headed in the right direction? Military victories for one, and secondly economic growth. Do you not see how the glory of the nation state has replaced the individual's glory here in America? That my friend is the true essence of Fascism.

Thanks for the compliments.
Meaning...Well, I hate to think that "meaning" in life could come from something as finite and as fleeting as a nation state. If there is any meaning to life, I believe it must have significantly more longevity, surpassing well beyond the normal life span of humans.
This would seem to rule out everything but religious beliefs of meaning, but it does not. We can achieve meaning in terms of "human progression" and do our part, while here, to make human existence better for all.
From that perspective, I think
"nationalism" seems a little absurd. Why make arbitrary distinctions and divisions that can do nothing more than enrich soil for the seeds of conflict? I know I am a utopian. I know that "now" (this place in time and space) is not fertile ground for transitioning such a philosophy from theory to practical reality. But, I think that in the future however, and I hope, for the sake of all humans, that there might emerge a "global nationalism", a "human nation" in other words. That, I think, would eliminate atleast one of the catalysts of conflict, and perhaps make life better for all.
